Digital Badges

About Digital Badges

Butler recognizes that skills and knowledge are expanded through relevant experiences in addition to formal education. Badges use measurable credentials to acknowledge skills, competencies, accomplishments and the mastery of knowledge. Let’s work together to help you get recognized.

Why?

Digital badges have come into their own as tools of major corporations and more localized libraries and colleges. They serve to indicate merits and accomplishments, micro-credentials, that employers now look to just as they might study components on one’s resume.

Badge Levels & Descriptions

A list of all the badges can be found on the Credly Butler Badges page. Badges are issued in three tiers.

Tier 1 -  Represents a professional recognition of mastery. Badges are limited in issuance and fixed in design. Examples include EdTech & Faculty Development awards of distinction.

Tier 2 - Represents a recognition of transferable skills, competencies, and accomplishments. Badges are not limited and customizable Examples include Human Resources Mandatory Training, Library/Soft Skills, EdTech & Faculty Development training.

Tier 3 - Represents an acknowledgement of participation. Badges are not limited and very customizable. Examples include Community Engagement and orientation.

Badges are publicly issued via Credly. When you earn a badge you will receive an email notification of your achievement (see video below). If you want to save and share that badge you must click on “save & share” (if you don’t have a Credly account yet you will be prompted to create one after this step).
