Butler Student Nursing Association

The Butler Student Nursing Association (BSNA) is comprised of students enrolled in the Associate Degree of Nursing program, pre-nursing students enrolled at Butler, and faculty advisors and consultants. Voting privileges of a BSNA member are defined by active participation in the organization.

The purpose of BSNA is: 

  1. To assume responsibility for contributing to Nursing education in order to provide for the highest quality of health care.
  2. To provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest and concerns
  3. To aid in the development of the whole person, his/her professional role, and his/her responsibility for the health care of people in all walks of life. 

The functions of BSNA include the following: 

  1. To have direct input into standards of nursing education process. 
  2. To influence health care, nursing education and practice through legislative activities as appropriate.
  3. To promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities toward improved health care and the resolution of related social issues. 
  4. To represent nursing students to consumer, health care institutions and other organizations.
  5. To promote and encourage students' participation in interdisciplinary activity.
  6. To promote and encourage recruitment efforts, participation in student activities, and educational opportunities regardless of a person's race, color, creed, gender, age, life style, national origin, or economic status. 
  7. To promote and encourage a collaborative relationship between the Kansas Association of Nursing Students (KANS) and the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA), as well as the other nursing and related health organizations.
