CLEP Testing
Scores Accepted and Credit Granted
Butler Community College awards college credit for College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams in a number of different areas.
Testing for Credit in English Composition 1
The requirement can be satisfied in the following ways:

*To receive credit for English Comp I from Butler, students will take the College Composition exam. There will be a two week delay for results as CLEP grades the exam. A student must score as high on any given test as the above mentioned scaled score. In addition to the examination, each student taking the College Composition test must write an essay and submit it to Butler’s English Department for grading and then a review along with the examination to see if credit is granted. If the essay is of sub-standard quality, no credit will be given for English Composition I for any CLEP/ACT test.

Students cannot test for English Composition II at Butler.
Testing for Credit in College Algebra or Pre-Calculus Math
The requirement can be satisfied in the following ways:

*Students must also have completed the equivalent of Algebra II and one year of high school geometry with at least a "B" average.
