Six Sigma Courses
What Classes We Offer:
Prepare for application of Six Sigma Black Belt principles and techniques as well as preparation for ASQ's Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB) certification exam by reviewing the topics and subtopics in the SSBB Body of Knowledge along with some practical in-class application of tools and techniques. This is an instructor led course that will require some work outside of class. The course reinforces concepts through instructor facilitation, group discussions, and exercises. You'll get exam-taking tips and answer practice questions similar to the ones that appear on the exam. The course covers the nine areas from ASQ's Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge:
- Enterprise-Wide Deployment
- Organizational Process Management and Measures
- Team Management
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Frameworks and Methodologies
Taking this course does not constitute, nor imply, the successful passing of the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt exam. The course is designed to get the student prepared for leading and executing projects within his/her business.
Purpose or Goal of the Class:
To provide Six Sigma Yellow Belt training and enable students the ability to apply the Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving model. The course will raise the awareness of six sigma methodology and understanding of the DMAIC process model for solving problems. Project selection and the use of fundamental tools will be taught for a yellow belt level.
Course Schedule for the Semester:
Module 1 - Overview of Six Sigma Management, Roles and Responsibilities, and Projects
Module 2 - Define and Measure Phases of DMAIC
Module 3 - Analyze, Improve, and Control Phases of DMAIC
Purpose or Goal of the Class:
To provide Six Sigma Green Belt training and enable students the ability to apply the Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving model. The course will raise the awareness of six sigma methodology and understanding of the DMAIC process model for solving problems. Basic tools, project management and limited change management will be taught as the base fundamentals behind the DMAIC methodology. This course will provide some (not all) guidance and knowledge transfer in preparation for the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) Exam.
Course Schedule for the Semester
Module 1 Overview of Six Sigma Management, Roles and Responsibilities, and Projects
Module 2 Define Phase – To include project management and basic meeting tools for Six Sigma projects
Module 3 Measure Phase – To include measurement system analysis, data collection and descriptive statistics
Module 4 Analyze Phase – To include capability analysis, basic data analysis tools and root cause and corrective action techniques and hypothesis testing
Module 5 Improve Phase – Includes improvement techniques, basic introduction to design of experiments (DOE), some lean tools for waste elimination
Module 6 Control Phase – To include statistical process control (SPC), control plans and project sustainment techniques.
Module 7 Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) introduction and wrap up of the DMAIC process; final class will include an in class project to demonstrate the learning for the past 6 weeks.
