Effective teaching requires continuing faculty education. That has never been more true than it is today as tidal waves of technological evolutions transform the way students absorb information and the methods available to educators to engage those students in learning. The Office of Faculty Development plans, develops and presents the diverse range of training programs that stimulate innovation and advance the skills of our instructors on a continuing basis.

To facilitate access to these programs and developmental tools, we deliver them online under the Faculty Tab in the Butler Pipeline. There you will find an extensive inventory of available workshops, web sites and conferences as well as books, videos and other instructional materials that are available for check out through the L.W. Nixon Library.

We also present a number of face-to-face workshops throughout the academic year, starting with our in-service week at the beginning of each semester on both our El Dorado and Andover campuses.

Points can be earned for participation in our online and on-campus workshops which can result in stipend awards for our adjunct faculty and salary increases for full-time instructors.

Continuing development of our skills as educators not only advances the quality of education we provide our students, but also freshens and stimulates our engagement in the profession of teaching. We welcome the input of our faculty regarding the training programs we provide. Please let us know if there are areas you would like us to address in upcoming workshops or through our online resources.
