Butler Community College Now Enrolling for Newly Accredited Spring SHRM Classes

Butler Community College’s Business Education & Training Analysis (BETA) program is teaching the newly accredited Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) courses. These courses are offered for both the certified professional (CP) and the senior certified professional (SCP).

“This accreditation is exciting,” said Michelle Ruder, the BETA director at Butler Community College. “We are the only school locally to have this program, and we have been given Western Kansas.”

SHRM 2017 classes take place weekly from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. from January 10 through May 2. The classes contain comprehensive learning modules that streamline the learning process.

“We’re delighted to partner with SHRM because of their recognizable brand and their high industry standards,” Ruder said.

More than 96,500 human resource professionals in 105 countries hold SHRM credentials. This program that BETA piloted began in January 2015 and was accredited in November 2016.

“People who already have the legacy credentials are more than likely to obtain the new SHRM credentials,” Ruder said. “The majority of the people who have not had the legacy credentials seem to be trending toward the new SHRM credentials.”

SHRM is accredited by the Buros Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Buros Center specializes in auditing major educational and licensure testing programs for fairness in testing and overall psychometric quality of tests. This independent nonprofit has accredited major state educational achievement exams, medical and law school admissions tests, and licensure exams.
