EduCare Grant allows more children access to Butler's Early Childhood Learning Center while their parents attend classes.

Butler Community College’s EduCare Center Learning Lab received the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant for $116,012. The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Education and will be paid each of the next four years.

The CCAMPIS grant will allow low-income, Pell-eligible, parents who attend Butler Community College a reduction in price at EduCare. The grant will encourage students to pursue a degree by means of equal education.

“It is amazing to see so many opportunities arising through EduCare,” said Sue Sommers Barrientos, EduCare Center Professor. “This grant affords many more children of Butler students access to a wonderful learning center, and it affords the parents of these children the ability to attend classes knowing their children are well-cared for. I look forward to continue working with the community to promote academic success.”

The Educare Center Learning Lab is an Early Childhood Education Program learning space that allows students to work and complete practicums in a high-quality exemplary site. EduCare was recently awarded a Five-year renewal of its National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation in August 2017. Butler’s EduCare is the only nationally accredited center in the Butler County area.
