Long-time nursing instructor, Donna Adams-Zimmerman, was named Master Teacher by Butler.

Long-time nursing instructor, Donna Adams-Zimmerman, was named Master Teacher by Butler. The Master Teacher award at Butler Community College is similar to the state-wide Master Teacher award. The teachers of Butler Community College select a deserving recipient and reward them for their successes.

Adams-Zimmerman’s photo is added to a wall collection of previous Butler Community College Master Teacher recipients, going back to 1973. In May, she will attend the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) conference for teaching excellence in Austin, Texas. At NISOD, she will be awarded a medallion.

Adams-Zimmerman is from Augusta and resides on the east side of Wichita. She has bachelors degrees in education and nursing and a master’s degree in nursing, all from Wichita State University. She has worked at Butler for 31 years.

“I love to see students turn their lives around. To go from jobless, single parents, to successful and providing for their families,” Adams-Zimmerman said.

With this award, Adams-Zimmerman is granted the opportunity to deliver a keynote for the Order of the Purple Ceremony held the evening before graduation for Butler’s top academic-performing students.
